Mind tricks

I went to see Derren Brown on Saturday night. In fact, I was very nearly part of the show as one of the people I was with was chosen to do one of the tricks. She was given a locked briefcase which sat next to us the entire night.

The end of the show involved choosing a random word from any of ten newspapers and then revealing the very same word in the briefcase which had been beside us evening. Even though he explained how he did it, i'm really not happy about someone screwing with my head quite as much as he did !

signal boost

Technological discovery of the weekend was that if you place your mobile phone on a can of tuna - the signal strength goes up dramatically ! I know fish can communicate in clever ways but I didn't think they used mobiles ?!

I also got tricked by a banner advert on a website offering to "end phone bills forever...." It was an advert for walkie talkies. I hate it when the admen get the better of me.

Marginal election excitement

In a bit of a damp squib of an election campaign, I can think of only two highlights for me:

The first was when I realised just how indoctrinated my five year old is when we drove into Edinburgh the other day. All the way, she cheered the SNP posters and booed the Tory ones.

I have also enjoyed the reports today of the lengths to which Blair and Brown will go to appear as if they don't hate each other. While campaigning in London, Mr Blair bought the Chancellor an ice cream. Brown then retaliated by buying a 95p breakfast at Ikea for the Prime Minister. I wonder if they will both claim their gifts on expenses ?
