I saw Santa !

Santa arrived in North Berwick on Saturday to help switch on the Christmas lights. The girls were particularly delighted that he arrived in a fire engine complete with flashing lights and siren.

Not so pleased was the Ned in the body-kitted car behind the fire engine who, with his music thumping, was looking very hacked off at being delayed by all this festivity. He did wind down his window at one point and looked on the verge of delivering a barrage of expletives. He changed his mind though - possibly realising that he would have been lynched by the assorted middle class who had surrounded his car.

Christmas spirit is brilliant.

Change the name, remain the same

I drove past my old school yesterday. It is currently in the throes of a major renovation and appears to be being completely re-built.

This is long overdue since I recall the cardboard walls looking worse for wear 13 years ago when I left. However, I am less certain about the sign that has been placed at the entrance to this emerging development.

"Firhill Learning Village" it announces to anyone in the area who actually learned to read. I wonder how much some education department based bureaucrat got paid to come up with that one.

Lost and found

A general appeal to anyone who got home the other night and found they were missing the bumper from their car - I found it.

I last saw it hurtling onto the hard shoulder of the M8 after I had hammered into it at 70 mph. I can give an exact location once I receive some cash to pay to re-attach all of the bits that are currently falling off my car.
